Homearama returns to Dayton area

DAYTON, Ohio (Dayton Business Journal) - After a four year hiatus, Homearama, the high-end home builders show, is back.

The Home Builders Association of Dayton selected The Springs at the Villages of Winding Creek in Washington Township as the conditional site for the 2012 Homearama. While a date has yet to be determined, the developer will be Centerville-based Design Homes and Development.

Homes built will showcase the latest styles and trends in building, design, landscaping and technology. Homes will be 4,500 square feet and up and will cost $650,000 to $800,000. Lot sizes vary from 0.48 to 1.36 acres and cost less than $100,000.

The Springs is off Social Row Road, just east of state Route 48.

Homearama began in 1977 and has been held 30 times in the Dayton area.

The last Homearama in Dayton was held in 2008 in Country Brook North in Clearcreek Township. In 2009, the HBA of Dayton introduced a new event, New Homes Questival, to replace Homearama. New Homes Questival was comprised of two parts — HomeFest at the Trails of SaddleCreek in Washington Township and CondoFest at Soraya Farms in Clearcreek Township. The HBA of Dayton did not hold a Homearama or a Questival this year.

The HBA of Dayton is a local chapter of the National Association of Home Builders in Ohio. Founded in 1942, the HBA of Dayton is comprised of nearly 400 members of the home building industry in Montgomery, Greene, Darke, Preble and the northern portions of Warren and Butler counties.
