DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - It's a big day for students at Cleveland Elementary in Dayton. And it's a big day for the volunteers of Shoes for the Shoeless.
For three years, Shoes for the Shoeless have been providing shoes, socks and hats for kids in need. Students are given a choice, from a variety of brand new shoes that have been donated. After the kids take em for a test drive, they then take them home along with a pair of socks.
According to Kris Horlacher, Executive Director of Shoes for the Shoeless, today's donation is just a small fraction of the shoes that are needed in our community.
"We see kids with blood in their socks because their toes are curled under," she said.
Now, 200 students, or 2,000 toes now have warm, comfortable shoes for the winter.
If you'd like to help go to the Dayton Mall November 17 through Christmas Eve and make a donation of shoes or socks and you're automatically registered for a $500 Dayton Mall Gift card.
