DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A $3.6 million roadway project wraps up Monday with a ribbon cutting, announced Dayton leaders on Tuesday.

The Great Miami Boulevard project provides an important north/south connection with and gateway into the Grafton Hills and Five Oaks neighborhoods, which includes important institutions like Grandview Hospital, the Dayton Art Institute, and the Masonic Temple, as well as the lower Salem Avenue business district.

The roadway also provides an important alternate route for Interstate 75, which will be valuable to motorists during the I-75 Phase 2 modernization project.

The project began in May of 2011 and wraps up with a ribbon cutting on Monday, October 15 at 11 a.m.

The project was funded by Federal Transportation dollars through the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission and by City of Dayton Capital funds.
