TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - "I'm just really upset about it and I'm going to miss my friend, I really am," says Jean Rucker.

She has been friends Regina Davis,69, for more than 30 years.

"She calls me twice a day and I see her everyday," explains Rucker.

When she didn't hear from Regina Monday, she went to her house on Natalie Court to make sure everything was okay.

"I knew something was wrong because, when I looked in there, there was dog poop all over the floor.  You can go to her house and you don't know that she has a dog because there's no smell there.  So, when I saw that, I thought these dogs have not been out all day.  Something is wrong," comments Rucker.

That's when she called police.

"They found the back door unlocked.  After trying to make contact, they went in and found the deceased in a bathtub," says Cpt. John Porter of the Trotwood Police Department.

Police say Davis was strangled to death.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office says Dylan Harrison,21, is behind bars for murder, but awaiting formal charges.

Neighbors 2 News he is the victim's grandson and had been living with her.

Harrison's defense attorney says there was an argument and fight before Davis was killed.

"We believe that a party other than the accused had a knife in their possession and we believe that they knife was brandished into certain fashion, in a threatening manner in this altercation," explains Jon Paul Rion.

Friends say Davis was only 4' 11" but she was a feisty woman who they called "the sheriff" of their neighborhood.

"If there were any suspected drug houses, you can rest assured that she watched them and then call the drug enforcement and she has busted up quite a few drug houses here.  She was good for the neighborhood and I don't know what the neighborhood is going to do without her," comments Rucker.

Now, they want justice for her death.

"She was a very, very, very nice person.  She didn't deserve this.  She didn't deserve this," says Rucker.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office will present it's case Thursday morning.

Trotwood Police plan to hold a press conference Thursday afternoon.
