Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) - You could say GE is bringing good things to Dayton -- especially to the University of Dayton, to the tune of about one to two million dollars a year in research funds.

A 125,000 square foot building that is being built at the corner of Patterson and Stewart streets is going to be a world-class, state-of-the-art research facility for GE Electrical Power Aviation Systems.

When completed, about 50 -60 research technicians from GE will work on the next generation of engines that will power aircraft from every branch of the military as well as airplanes that will carry you and your family to your future vacation destinations.

Their goal with this joint venture with University of Dayton Research Institute is to make the aircraft engines lighter and more fuel efficient, and make these discoveries with the help of UD students.

Watch Dan Edwards' special report beginning tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 9) at 5:00 on 2 NEWS.
