DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - What happened to gas prices spiking at the end of the week?

Area motorists were startled to find gas jumped some 24-cents Tuesday.

Many stations were selling gas at $3.99 a gallon.

The sticker shock is getting to local drivers.

"It's hard on everybody. I'm retired. I'm on a fixed income and it can only go so far on a gallon of gasoline," said Lindsay Zemany.

Some economists believe gas will hit the $5.00 mark this summer.
