HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) - A family is displaced after flames tore through their apartment Sunday afternoon.

Crews arrived in the 5700 block of Fisher Drive around 2:30 p.m. and found a shed consumed by a blaze.

According to fire officials, the flames from the shed extended up into the attic of one of the apartments.

Firefighters said they had to pull down the ceiling in the apartment to get to the fire and properly contain it.

Crews quickly doused the flames and were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to the other four adjacent apartments.

Butler Township and Dayton firefighters were called to assist the Huber Heights Fire Department.

The family made it out of the home safely.

Apartment management is offering lodging for the family in one of the other vacant apartments in the complex.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
