DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - A man trying to break up a fight Wednesday night was injured when he became the target.

Billie Blackburn Sr., 48, intervened in a fight between a group of young males near Xenia Avenue and Hock Street, according to a Dayton police sergeant.

Blackburn and a woman were then knocked to the ground and beaten and kicked.

Both were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Blackburn was listed in stable condition. The woman, who was not identified, was treated and released.

Police said several suspects are being questioned.
