Fifth-Third Field gets "face-lift"

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Dragons will open its 2013 season on April 4, with the first home game on  April 11.

Fifth-Third Field has been sold out every game in its 13 season history.  Officials are confident 2013 will follow suite. 

The ballpark is considered the focal point of downtown Dayton.  Following the Dragons arrival in 1999, came other entertainment venues in downtown Dayton such as Riverscape and The Schuster Center.

Restaurants and bars located in the area have also benefited through baseball over the years.

"We see about a 10% increase in sales when there are home games," said Joe Kiley, who is the General Manager of Uno's in downtown Dayton.

"This has truly become a gathering place for businesses and families," said Eric Deutsch, who is the Executive VP for the Dayton Dragons. "Its become iconic for the city of Dayton and our region."
