MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - JoAnn Shields fought back tears as she remembered her granddaughter Lisa Spinks.

The 20-year-old was stabbed to death in September 2011. Joshua Sellers and Jamie Shaffer are charged with her murder. Investigators say the pair lured Lisa to a secluded area in Miamisburg, killed her and then dumped her body along railroad tracks.

Family and friends gathered together Tuesday night on the one year anniversary of Lisa's murder to throw flowers on the place where her body was found.

"We just really wanted Lisa to know that we'll never forget her. She'll be in our hearts forever," says Chelsea Overman.

They also shared stories about her short but full life.

"She was a bright kid. She just lit up a room and we'll always miss her," explains Shields.

And now Lisa's loved one are looking for some closure.

"We just hope that she gets justice for what happened and maybe that will happen soon," comments Shields.

The Montgomery County Prosecutor is seeking the death penalty against Shaffer and Sellers.

Both men have pleaded not guilty and are being held behind bars in the Montgomery County Jail on $1 million bond.

But, Sellers has asked a judge to toss out the confession he made to police so it can't be used in his upcoming trial.

No trial date has been set.
