VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The nearing sequester, or automatic federal spending cuts, could mean the air traffic control tower could go unmanned while commercial aircraft land at the Dayton International Airport.
The overnight shift in the airport’s control tower is one of sixty that the Federal Aviation Administration listed as one that could be eliminated as the department plans for $600M in spending cuts as part of the sequestration. The FAA also identified five air traffic control operations that would be shuttered in Ohio .
Currently, American Airlines flight 3918 from Chicago is the only commercial arrival into Dayton scheduled after midnight.
