DP&L prepared for any outages

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton Power and Light is bringing in extra staff on Thursday and Friday to deal with any outages caused by a windy cold front moving into the area.

A DP&L spokesperson says they'll put off routine maintenance to keep crews ready to respond to emergencies.

2 NEWS Chief Meteorologist, Brian Davis, says winds could gust as high as 50-mph on Thursday.

DP&L says the possibility of tree limbs bringing down power lines is increased when the wind hits 40 mph.

Snow is supposed to start falling through the evening hours and spokespeople say that could make for challenging work conditions Friday.

Should you spot downed power lines, call DP&L at 877-4OUTAGE.  That's 877-468-8243.  You should treat every downed line as a live wire.  Never touch a power line.

DP&L also reminds customers to have a storm kit ready with a battery-operated radio, water, flashlights and batteries, first aid kit and blankets.
