TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) - Tragedy for a Trotwood family when the family dogs attack and kill.

Trotwood police say Dawn Juergens, 75, was killed Saturday afternoon at her Union Road home.

Her husband found her in the yard after he returned home.

Officers say the dogs are cane corsos, a type of mastiff.

"We believe that she may have had some food on or about her person and she was trying to et the dogs back in the kennels and the dogs went into a frenzy," said Captain John Porter, Trotwood Police.

Officers say since no one was home to witness the attack, they have to wait on a coroner's report for more information.

Police tell us the dogs are at the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center.
