MIAMI TWP., Ohio (WDTN) - A fired Miami Township police officer is appealing his dismissal.

John DiPietro was fired Wednesday for violating department policy.

The incident occurred in a police station sally port in July 2012.  DiPietro hosed down a naked teenager who was pepper-sprayed during her arrest for shoplifting.  He was the only officer present at the time.

Miami Township trustees terminated him after several hearings.  He does not face criminal charges.

DiPietro was a member of the department for 26 years.
