Dayton's finance dept. gets top status

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Following a rigorous evaluation and review process, the City of Dayton Department of Finance Utility Contact Center and Treasury Section have been awarded ISO 9001 compliance status, an internationally recognized standard issued to organizations with quality management systems.

“It is rare for a government agency to earn ISO 9001 status,” City Manager Tim Riordan said. “The entire city organization is proud of this accomplishment by our Finance Department staff.”

ISO 9001 certification verifies that the Finance Department’s Customer Contact Center and Treasury Section have detailed policies in place, that employees are well-trained in policies and procedures, and that there is an ongoing and successful effort to improve customer service. The Department of Finance has worked for several years to earn this coveted certification, one that is unusual for a government agency to achieve.

The Finance Utility Contact Center receives approximately 10,000 calls a month requesting information on water consumption, account balances, payment plans, requests for new water service, and work orders for various special meter reads, change, and sets. Treasury Section cashiers also interact with water/utility customers in person at a City Hall customer service center.
