DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The carriage barn in Sharon Mowry's backyard is leaning.
"It's an eye sore. It's a danger. It could fall on somebody. It could take down these adjacent buildings," says Mowry.
And something must be done, according to a Dayton building inspector.
"He came through and found the floor poking through the main beam. He wrote up that I needed to do something with the building, either restore it or demolish it," explains Mowry.
And she doesn't have much time to do it.
"He said whatever I decided, it needs to be done this summer," comments Mowry.
The city says it can't tear down the building because it is on private property.
Mowry says it's cheaper to demolish it rather than restore it. She's consulted with several different contractors and it will still cost her thousands of dollars.
But, she has fallen on hard times since her husband died. Mowry has two teenage daughters and is trying to go back to school so she is begging for the community for help.
"I have no extra money, I'm just going paycheck to paycheck, like most of us and I'm struggling big time. Could you please help me?" asks Mowry.
