Dayton schools names interim treasurer

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Board of Education appointed an interim treasurer Wednesday.
Assistant Treasurer, Hiwot Abraha, will begin her new duties November 1, 2012.
Abraha joined the district in February 2008 as senior accountant, responsible for financial reporting and audits, and was named assistant treasurer in early 2012.
According to Board President Ronald Lee, Abraha’s appointment will allow the district to make a critical transition without missing a beat.
Dayton Public Schools Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Stanley Lucas begins his retirement Nov. 1, following a 10-year career with the district that saw numerous financial accounting awards and the successful completion of a multimillion-dollar new school construction program.
