DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton area roofer is accused of defrauding his customers.

The Ohio Department of Insurance says Terrance King told customers and insurance companies that the money he accepted was used for quality materials and services.

The indictment says King actually used second-hand products and in some cases, did not complete the work promised.

His business is Home Improvement Terrance King, LLC.  It did most of its work in Dayton, Springfield and Columbus.

King is also accused of filing false claims to receive subsidized housing assistance to the tune of $154,000.  Investigators King used that money for personal use.

He also faces accusations of filing false federal tax returns and mail fraud.

King has been summoned into federal court to face several charges.

The Ohio Department of Insurance has a hotline you can call if you suspect fraud.  Call 1-800-686-1527.  You can also visit ODI online here.
