DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - By Soteria Brown, Dayton Red Cross

Chief Executive Officer of the Dayton Area Chapter Tom Fodor will be stepping down as the head of the local Red Cross Chapter to accept the position of Executive Director CEO of the Visiting Nurse Service Foundation in Indianapolis. Fran O’Shaughnessy, Director of Emergency Services for the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region, will act as interim CEO pending appointment of a successor.

During Fodor’s tenure, the Dayton Area Chapter was twice recognized as a Highly Performing Chapter, a national standard acknowledging superior service delivery and fiscal stewardship. The Chapter also received the 2005 Not for Profit Organization of the Year Award as presented by the Dayton Business Journal and was a finalist for the same honor in 2009. The organization was also a 2010 and 2011 Better Business Bureau Eclipse Award nominee.

“I would like to thank Tom for his hard work and extraordinary leadership over the past 8 years as CEO. I, like many others, am proud to have served under his leadership,” said Martin Hydell, Dayton Area Chapter Board Chair. “I wish him all the best for the future.”

O’Shaughnessy is a passionate supporter of the Red Cross mission. “It has been a privilege to work with Tom. I am proud to carry on his legacy and continue critical Red Cross services in the Dayton area,” said O’Shaughnessy.

The Red Cross board will conduct a search to replace Fodor before the end of the year. The Dayton Area Chapter and the entire Greater Cincinnati-Dayton Region wishes Tom Fodor the best in her future endeavors and thanks him for his superior leadership and outstanding service.
