DAYTON, Ohio (DAYTON BUSINESS JOURNAL) - Dayton Business Journal: Dayton has one of the oldest stocks of housing in the country, ranking as the 11th oldest among the Top 100 markets in the nation, according to a new report by Bizjournals.com.
Just 10,254, or 2.66 percent, of the 385,208 housing units in Dayton were built in 2005 or later, ranking 90th for newest housing. At the same time, 218,936, or more than half of all the housing units in Dayton, were built in or before 1969.
Seventeen markets are growing so rapidly that more than 10 percent of their housing has been built since 2005. On the flip side are 28 major metros where a majority of all homes were constructed before 1970.
