DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton firefighters had more than a fire to investigate Tuesday afternoon.
They say they had an unruly man to contend with as they arrived.
Firefighters responded to 622 Salem Avenue shortly after 3:00 pm on the report of smoke coming from a house there.
They arrived to find the homeowner threatening them with a gun.
Firefighters decided to call police and wait for officers to arrive.
Police did take the man into custody, as firefighters entered the house.
Firefighters say it was smoke from a fireplace that alerted a passerby to a possible fire. There was no damage to the home.
Firefighters will not pursue charges against the homeowner as they say they never saw an actual gun produced.
