DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton firefighter was honored for his valor at Wednesday's Dayton City Commission Meeting.

Lieutenant Chris Kinzeler was recognized for helping at a blaze at his neighbor's house in August 2012.

Fire broke out in a garage on Penewit Road in Sugarcreek Township.

Lt. Kinzeler was off duty at the time, but jumped in to help when he saw the fire.

"I was in the right place at the right time and certainly glad to be in the position to help out a neighbor," said Lt. Kinzeler.

Double honors for Lt. Kinzeler.  He was also named Firefighter of the Year by the Montgomery Fire Chiefs Association.
