DAYTON, Ohio (Dayton Business Journal) - Dayton Business Journal: Penn National Gaming Inc. has officially asked the state for permission to build a casino and horse race track in Dayton and looks to break ground this fall on the facility that is expected to create 1,000 jobs locally.
On Monday, Penn National announced it has filed licenses with the Ohio Lottery Commission for Video Lottery Sales Agent for its Ohio racetracks, and with the Ohio State Racing Commission for permission to relocate the racetracks from Columbus and Toledo to Austintown and Dayton, respectively.
The Dayton facility – a harness racing track called Hollywood Slots at Dayton Raceway – will be located on 125 acres on the site of an abandoned Delphi Automotive plant near Wagner Ford and Needmore roads in North Dayton. Plans for the site were originally announced in February 2011.
