DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Dayton man made a shocking discovery.  His father shot to death inside his home and police are still looking for the killer one year after the crime.

A call to 911 sent police to the 100 block of Maplelawn Drive in Dayton just before noon on November 18th.

They arrived at a very emotional scene.  Friends and relatives were distraught after learning John Booker, 55, had been shot to death.

"He was laying there face first on the stairs. I looked through the door and he was just laying there. I thought he had passed out, didn't take his blood pressure medicine or something. I don't know.  I went in and turned him over and I saw blood on his shirt and he wasn't breathing," said John Booker, Jr., victim's son.

Family members say Booker left his house to visit a nephew who was in the hospital.  When he returned home, police believe he surprised some burglars and paid a deadly price.

Three HDTVs, a play station and a cell phone were stolen from inside the residence.

"If anybody has any information perhaps they live in the neighborhood saw something suspicious going on that day or maybe out on the street somebody was trying to sell these items shortly around that time frame, please call Crime Stoppers.  We really need your help solving this one," said Detective Cayce Cantrell, Dayton Police Department.

The Crime Stoppers number to call is 222-7867.
