DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police say a car was heading northbound near the 2600-block of Old Troy Pike just before 11 Saturday night when it hit a manhole cover, then a parked car and ended up in the front yard of a home. Pieces of that manhole cover were scattered in the front yard of nearby homes.
Police say the 29-year-old male driving and a 21-year-old female passenger were both ejected from the car. They were taken to Miami Valley Hospital where the driver is in critical condition and the passenger is in stable condition.
There was also a 2-month-old strapped in a car seat in the back, according to police. The baby was taken to Dayton Children's Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Police say a beer can was found next to the car and alcohol may be a factor in the crash, as well as speed.
A crime scene unit was called to figure out exactly what happened. The road will be shut down until the investigation is complete.
As the game goes on, nearby businesses are counting the money it generates.
