'Crash' is on the mend, but needs a little help from his friends

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Animal Resource Center and two good samaritans are seeking help in mending a badly injured dog.

Renee Parcell of Dayton was driving on Interstate 75, Jan. 23, when she saw the collie along the highway.

Parcell rescued the dog from the side of the road and took him to a veterinarian, where it was determined he had two broken legs.

Parcell paid for the initial cost of treatment out of her own pocket, but surgery to repair Crash's broken legs and eventual rehabilitation will cost up to $6,000.

A friend of Parcell's, Beth Honaker, contacted the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center (ARC), where the affectionately named 'Crash' was brought for care.

The ARC has committed $1,000 from its "Tiny Tim Fund" to aid in Crash's recovery, and Parcell and Honaker are working with the ARC to raise funds for the additional costs.

Crash did not have a dog license or a microchip, and if his owner does not come forward, Crash will be available for adoption.

Anyone with information on Crash or who would like to donate to the Tiny Tim Fund, can contact the ARC at 937-898-4457 or AnimalShelter@mcohio.org .  The ARC is located at 6790 Webster Street in Dayton.  Donations can also be made online at: http://www.gofundme.com/1xmods .
