David Yaney's truck went down a ravine along Taywood Road in Englewood around 5:50 a.m. and submerged in 12 feet of water.
Though crews were on the scene in three minutes, it took four hours to find his body. Using a crane, rescue workers managed to pull the truck from the water just after 9:30. Divers found Yaney's body a short time later.
Yaney's friends cannot make sense of what happened. Carl Bush made his way to crash site Thursday. The two knew each other for more than 40 years.
"Dave was the one that always did something that had everybody cracked up and laughing and made us happy," said Carl Bush, Yaney's friend.
