KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - The suspect in a Kettering assault and abduction was arrested Monday night.
Joseph M. Budz, 49, of Dayton, is accused of abducting a woman Saturday night in the Big Lots parking lot on Wilmington Pike.
The woman told police she was inside her car when a man got in the car and assaulted her. She said he then drove her car to an apartment complex on Bobbie Place where he got out and ran off.
A Kettering patrol officer said he stopped Budz jaywalking Monday night on East Dorothy Lane near Bobbie Place. The officer noticed Budz had a freshly shaved head and face, and looked like the artist's sketching of the suspect from the assault.
Budz had an outstanding warrant from a previous arrest and was taken into custody.
A positive identification was made on Budz and he was booked into the Kettering Jail on charges of kidnapping, gross sexual imposition and felony theft.
The Purple Passion 5K run/walk was held at Shawnee Park Saturday afternoon.
