DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Dayton Art Institute alerted the public about road construction that may affect travel to its popular Oktoberfest, to be held this weekend, September 21-23, on the museum grounds.
According to the Ohio Department of Transportation, a single lane closure will be in effect on I-75 northbound between Stewart St. and Edwin C. Moses Blvd., beginning Friday, September 21 at 8 p.m. This closure will take place nightly between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. The affected lane is scheduled to reopen to motorists Sunday, September 23 at 6 a.m. Two lanes of traffic will remain open to northbound motorists.
Motorists wishing to access I-75 north from US 35 during this time will be detoured to Dryden Road due to the U-turn lane at Edwin C. Moses Blvd. being unavailable. Those traveling to Oktoberfest along the affected routes during these times may want to consider alternate routes. In addition, construction will limit street parking along the levee on Riverview Ave., between Main St. and Forest Ave.
Free parking and shuttle services for Oktoberfest are available on September 22 and 23. Park at the Welch Packaging Group lot, located one mile east of UD Arena on Edwin C. Moses Blvd., and take the free shuttle to and from Oktoberfest. Visitors may also park downtown and take the free RTA Oktoberfest shuttle from stops along Main Street, Second Street and Fifth Street in the Oregon District.
For the latest information about Oktoberfest, go to www.daytonartinstitute.org/oktoberfest or call the museum at 937-223-5277.
