DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Capabilities, Inc. has moved to a new location and expanded disabilities services in Dayton and celebrated with an open house on Thursday.
Capabilities teams with the Ohio Rehabilitation Services Commission, the Bureau of Workers Compensation, and the Department of Developmental Disabilities to provide employment and day habitation services, which include job development, job coaching, vocational evaluation, and drivers education to help people with disabilities. As a family owned business, their number one priority is customer service.
With the move to a new location on Woodman Drive in Dayton, Capabilities has been able to open the Capabilities Social Club. The Social Club is a day habilitation facility for people with developmental disabilities. The Social Club will focus on training people how they can use technology in their everyday lives. Some of the training may include, but is not limited to, computer use, tablet use, smartphone use, Microsoft Office training, assistive technology training, writing and maintaining a blog, appropriate use of social media such as Facebook, and outings in the community. Members of the Social Club will also travel in the community for social recreation and training.
Capabilities is now located on Woodman Drive, right near the near the exit off of U.S 35. The business moved from Elizabeth Place Plaza in Dayton.
