DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Saturday's extreme heat stopped some from heading to the Dayton Air Show with the slightly cooler temperatures Sunday, the crowd was even bigger.

"It's nice and breezy. The weather is fine. I mean it's not as hot as it was yesterday," says vendor Tabitha Delgado.

Temperatures hit the low 90s Sunday, compared to triple digits Saturday, it was a welcome relief.

"I don't know how many people we had under the wing yesterday, well over a hundred on it. We like to joke with the people and tell them that we have to charge them a $10 shade tax," explains Zane Lemon.

But, people were still trying to beat the heat and it got to some. More than 175 people were treated by medical staff Saturday, 29 of those were taken to the hospital.

"A majority of those were heat related, we did have a few that had pre-existing medical conditions that needed attention for their medical problem while they were here," comments EMS Manager Bill Mangas.

200 EMS workers are normally on hand for the air show, but extra staff was added this year.

"We planned for the weather, however, this year because of the heat indices, because it was supposed to be so hot. We decided in advance of that, that we decided to add our staffing so we added about 20 % more than normal for this year," says Mangas.

While there was a bigger crowd Sunday, medical staff reports a decrease in the number of patients. About 60 people were treated by medical staff while only a couple were taken to the hospital.
