BBB: avoiding ticket scams

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton's Better Business Bureau is warning fans who plan to purchase NCAA tickets from secondary ticket markets to be on the look out for scams.

"In 2012, 1,900 complaints were filed to the BBB concerning these types of ticket sales," said John North, who is the President and CEO of Dayton's BBB.

North said you can find reputable websites online through the BBB .

"You can tell a website if secure by locating the "pad-lock" icon near the URL," said North.  "Also, make sure the "HTTP" has an "s" at the end of it."

North also warns of scalpers.

"It is unregulated," said North. "You don't know where they have received the tickets.  Many people have been burned."
