DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - With Arbor Day on Friday, April 27, several Miami Valley organizations gear up to commemorate the event.
Wilson Park in West Carrolton announced plans to host dozens of Boy & Girl Scouts as they participate in the Tree City USA program with Mayor Jeff Sanner, council members and City Beautiful Commission members. Festivities at Wilson Park begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Five Rivers MetroParks is set to celebrate the national holiday with educational activities, learning programs and tours at Cox Arboretum at 6733 Springboro Pike in Dayton. Festivities begin Friday at 8:30 a.m. and feature a variety of family-friendly activities.
The Forest Foster program also goes in to effect as families can take home a flat of containerized tree seedlings and help the MetroParks maintain tree health in the Dayton area.
