DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A 7-year-old child is dead after two cars collided on Riverside Drive near Ridge Avenue in Dayton Wednesday.
Medics arrived around 4:30 pm to find two children and one adult injured.
Derek Whitaker, 7, was pronounced dead at Dayton Children's Medical Center.
The second child and driver of the truck suffered non-life threatening injuries.
According to witnesses, a red truck was headed northbound on Riverside Drive when it struck a red neon attempting to make a left turn from the southbound lanes.
Two children were sitting in the back of the red neon. The driver of the neon was not injured.
Police said its unclear who is at fault in this accident. No one has been cited.
Investigators shut down the roadway for several hours while they worked to reconstruct the accident.
The intersection reopened around 7:30 pm.
