10-11-12: A great day for a wedding

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) - Notice anything strange about Thursday's date?  It's in numeric order, 10-11-12.

It is a day many couples think is the perfect day to get married.  It brings their union good luck.

In Miamisburg, it was wedding day for Stacie and Mitchell Hudson.

Instead of walking down an aisle, the couple walked down the hall to Mayor Dick Church's office.

It's a trip the mayor's made more than 2,900 times in his 21 year tenure.

"We joke back and forth that I have probably done more weddings than all the ministers in the community combined over the years," said Mayor Dick Church.

Church still remembers the first.  
"I went out and I was probably more scared then they were, cause, like I said, I had never done that."

Over the years he's perfected his delivery.  "Mine is a civil service.  It's not a religious service, but I try to make it dignified."

And on this special day, Church proudly led Stacie and Mitchell through their vows.

The Hudsons' wedding was one of three Mayor Church officiated on 10-11-12.

Although, the couple says the date had little to do with decision.

"We didn't have, it's just came up with today. It wasn't something that was planned.  We planned on getting married for a while and just chose today," said Stacie Hudson.

But, weddings experts say this is one of the hottest days of the year to get married with four times as many weddings registered than a typical Thursday in October.

For the newlyweds, it's the beginning of a lifelong journey together and for Mayor Church, it's one more couple who allowed him to be a part of their special day.

"By the authority invested in me as mayor of the City of Miamisburg, Montgomery County, Ohio, I now pronounce you husband and wife.  Those whom love has joined together let no person put asunder and may that all that is noble, lovely and true live with you forever.  You may kiss your bride... Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Hudson."
