BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) - Smoking in bed is being blamed for the fire that killed an elderly man Monday morning, according to officials in Butler Township.
The fire broke out in the home 2151 Kershner Road about 8 a.m.
The victim's wife was also in the house and suffered burns on her face.
The identity of the couple has not been released.
A Butler Township firefighter was also injured at the scene.
The Purple Passion 5K run/walk was held at Shawnee Park Saturday afternoon.
