PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) - After months of legal delays, a Piqua man finally received his sentence for animal cruelty.

Jeff Burgess will serve 7 days in jail and pay a $150.00 fine.

He was convicted of mistreated 100 dogs at his shelter. He tried to withdraw a guilty plea Friday, but the judge refused to grant it.

Burgess is already on probation for similar crimes in Clark County where he housed as many as 400 dogs.
