PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) - By Mike Ullery, Piqua Daily Call
Piqua police are investigating a series of crashes that ended with the death of the driver who reportedly caused the damage.
The events began around 8:00 pm when, according to Assistant Chief Marty Grove, "a subject struck multiple parked vehicles causing extensive damage on Wood Street. A short time later, at Young and Ellerman, another accident report came in."
Officers arrived at Young and Ellerman to find the same vehicle that was involved in the Wood Street crashes.
Grove said, "At the scene at Young and Ellerman, the driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene."
The crashes on Wood Street caused extensive damage to multiple vehicles and snapped off a utility pole which impacted a nearby residence.
Police say the driver that caused all the damage died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
No other injuries were reported.
