TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - A Troy teen wrote a fan letter to her favorite figure skater asking her to stop by if she was ever in the area.

She got her wish. The Olympic athlete made a stop in Troy and granted the girl's request.

It may only be mid-June, but it was Winter Olympic mania in Troy thanks to a fan letter written by 13-year-old Julia Lukacs.

"Because she's been my idol and she's my favorite skater and i love skating," said Lukacs.

Her idol, Rachael Flatt, competed in the 2010 winter Olympic Games at just 17-years old.

She hosted a skating seminar at Hobart Arena Friday

"I taught a little bit of ice and some things about performing and taught a little bit of technique, just worked with some of the kids," said Rachael Flatt, Olympian.

"I learned a lot about performing and how to be confident when you're on the ice and how to look confident," said Lukacs.

Flatt says spending time with the young figure skaters is something she enjoys.

"I just hope they had a lot of fun and hopefully learned something. but no, I just hope they had a great time and have a great experience it was great for me."

And for at least one person in attendance, it was a dream come true. "Thank you, thank you for coming it was so fun."
