TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - Miami County deputies are working to find who ever tossed some labrador puppies off a bridge.

The dogs survived, but now police need your help finding the person responsible.

A Miami County Sheriff's Deputy who was patrolling the park says she heard the puppies yelping and thought they had been hit by a car.

She found the four labs near the intersection of Peterson Road and 25-A around 11:00 am Friday.

The deputy thinks two of them were thrown about 10 to 15 feet and landed on an embankment near the Great Miami River. She says she found the other two near the top of the bridge.

The deputy wasn't able to get a license plate, but describes the car as an older dark blue Jeep Cherokee with a loud exhaust.

The puppies were taken to the Miami County Animal Shelter and once they are checked, the director says they will find homes for them.

"They're scared and they're very thin. One of them is already at a vet, so I'm taking the three over now just to have them checked, make sure there are no injuries and what kind of health problems we might be looking at," said Marcia Doncaster, Miami County Animal Shelter.

The deputy says the person responsible for throwing the puppies, could face animal cruelty and abandonment charges.

Call Crime Stoppers at 222-7867 if you have any information about what happened.
