Cops seize dozens of fake designer bags

TIPP CITY, Ohio (WDTN) - Tipp City Police are in the fashion business. Officers are investigating after dozens of counterfeit designer bags were seized from a local shop.

Investigators told 2 NEWS it started with a citizen complaint and over the last few weeks they've been investigating Urban Ava's Boutique.

On Friday, police executed a search warrant at the shop and seized 76 counterfeit "Tory Burch" bags.

At this point, no one has been charged and police said they are just trying to figure out where the bags came from.

Sgt. Chris Graham said counterfeiting hurts the community and the Tory Burch brand. "Their integrity is put at risk. Also, the person who goes in and thinks they're buying a true and accurate product and doesn't get it, they are out".

2 NEWS asked Sgt. Graham how to spot a fake designer bag. He said some key things to look for are:
drastic differences in price
cheap zippers
missing designer name or logos on the bag's interior
missing accessories, such as dust covers or cleaners
