TROY, Ohio (WDTN) - Troy police have charged both parents after a child was found dead Monday afternoon.

Jason Durig and Tara Durig have been charged with child endangering after their 8-month-old son was found dead inside a home at 1251 Hilltop Drive. Both are now in custody at the Miami County Jail.

Troy police tell 2 News the parents were charged after what was discovered inside the home. Police have requested a search warrant and cordoned off the property.  They planned to have an officer stationed at the home overnight, until they were able to get all the evidence they needed.

Neighbors told 2 News Jason and Tara Durig had just moved in to the apartment complex about two months ago.  Neighbors said the couple kept to themselves.

The Montgomery County coroners office will perform an autospy on the child.

Neighbors planned to hold a candlelight vigil outside the apartment at 9 PM on Monday night.
