TROY,Ohio (WDTN) - A Piqua teacher faced a judge after he was accused of having sex with a student.

32 year old Eric Williams, of Darke County, was charged with sexual battery. Williams pleaded not guilty to the charge. The judge agreed to release him on bond, if Williams would strap on a GPS monitoring bracelet.

Williams is an electrical trades instructor at the Upper Valley Joint Vocational Center. School Superintendant, Dr. Nancy Luce said he had been employed at the JVS since August of 2007, and described him as an "exemplary" employee.

Troy Police said they caught Williams and a 15-year old student from the JVS in a parked car, at Duke Park, at night.

"An adult thirty-some years old in the park, in the dark. In this town that raises suspicions, yes," said Captain Chris Anderson, of the Troy Police Department.

Police did release additional details, as the case was still under investigation.

Williams was placed on paid administrative from his job. The judge ordered him not to contact the victim or her family, when he gets out of jail.
