BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - The Logan County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a Rushsylvania teen.
Austin L. Houser, 15 was found dead in a ditch along SR 274 just north of Rushsylvania, Oct. 27, 2012. Houser's mother had reported his missing the night before.
Deputies said their preliminary investigation indicates that Houser was hit by a motor vehicle that left the scene of the crash.
"Someone hit him with a car and left him there to die," Austin's mother, Ellanna Houser, told 2 NEWS. "They didn't come forward, they didn't tell police, they just left him to die".
Deputies said they recovered a suspect vehicle and are working with Logan County prosecutors to obtain a search warrant to process the vehicle.
Anyone with information that help this investigation are asked to contact Detective Phil Bailey or Deputy Jeff Anspach at 937-592-5731.
