BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (WDTN) - Revealing audio and video was released Thursday that sheds a lot of light on how three teenagers escaped from a Logan County lock up.
911: "No they need to get there now. They're still calling for help. It's crazy over there."
It all started Tuesday evening with a chapstick. A teenager went to the deputy on duty to ask for lip balm. It apparently created enough of a distraction for Danny Ellis, Jr., 15 and Caleb Jacobs, 17, to attack Deputy Tim Klingelhofer.
911: "They're hitting him in the face several times. this is as brutal as you're going to see."
There's no sound on the surveillance video, but some of the chaos was captured by a call dialed to 911, left off the hook.
911: "Oh my God, oh my God, get somebody there. I think you need to get somebody there. They're all yelling and it's awful, oh my God, oh my God."
Officials say Devante Smith, 15, watched the beating and then grabbed keys used to unlock the fire escape.
The trio pulled the fire alarm then took off.
911: "I think there's someone missing, like, I think that there's a kid missing."
Deputies believed the teens would try to make their way to Florida, but they didn't get far.
Ellis and Smith were arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Cincinnati. A stolen car was also recovered there.
Columbus SWAT arrested Jacobs just two hours later.
Three women are also facing charges.
Stephanie Johnson, 30, Jacobs' cousin, was arrested for obstruction. Catherine Sine, 24, Jacobs' girlfiend was arrested to complicity to escape and Stormi Kiser, 24 was charged with obstruction of justice.
2 NEWS has learned the teenage boys will be brought back to Logan County in the next few days.
Ellis and Smith were originally being held for parole violations, Jacobs on a burglary charge out of Florida.
All three are now facing charges of felonious assault, assault, escape and aggravated rioting.
The injured deputy was treated and released from a local hospital.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
