RUSSELLS POINT, Ohio (WDTN) - A community is mourning after a toddler drowned in Logan County.
Medics were called to a home on Thorn Avenue in Russell's Point just before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Two-year-old Trenton Sherman found by his grandmother, Karen Arthur, in a backyard pool, according to Logan County Sheriff Andrew Smith.
Smith said the child had been removed from the pool and CPR was being performed when medics and deputies arrived.
Sherman was flown by CareFlight to Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
He was pronounced dead shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.
Residents in what is described as a tight-knit community expressed shock and horror over what happened.
"I've lived here with my family for many years and it has always been one of my biggest fears," said Neighbor Bob Leiter.
The Logan County Sheriff's office is investigating.
