ZANESFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - Snow bunnies will be able to hit the slopes, starting on Friday.

Last minute preparations were taking place at Mad River Mountain, to get ready for opening day.

Staff said 133 high-powered snow making machines were working overtime for six days, to churn water from a lake across the street, into fresh white powder.

"The pumphouse pumps upto 7,000 gallons of water a minute into each and every one of those machines, and it pumps it 400 pounds per square inch. 400 PSI. That's a lot of pressure. That's more pressure than comes out of a fire truck," said Brian Papworth, Director of Marketing and Events at Mad River Mountain.

Staff, all part of Team Blizzard, were installing rails in the park, testing out the ski lifts, geting the rental shops ready for visitors.

"The cold weather came just in time. It's perfect for snow making we'll be able to lay out an excellent blanket of snow," said Papworth.

The machines were spitting out enough snow to lay an 18-inch base blanket. Papworth said, it would give skiiers and snowboarders 100 acres to slide around in .. starting Friday.

The highlight on Friday at 1 pm, was a free styling event for snowboarders to showcase their specially constructed park.

Snow Tubing will not start until next week.
