XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - The City of Xenia has passed an ordinance requiring dog owners of specific breeds to register their dogs.
The new ordinance requires any person owning, keeping, possessing, harboring, maintaining, or have the care, custody, or control of a vicious dog to register them with the Xenia Police Division.
The dogs include pit bulls, American pit bull terriers, bull terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers, American Staffordshire terriers, canary dogs, American bulldogs, old country dogs, Perro de Presa Canario, or any mixed breed of dog that contains as an element one of these breeds.
There is an annual registration fee of $30.00 for each dog.
The ordinance goes into effect Jan. 2, 2012.
The following people have recently been booked into Jail. They may not have been convicted of the crimes they are charged with and are innocent until proven guilty.
