Xenia, Ohio (WDTN) - Today is the first day of classes for Xenia elementary students following winter break and they get to be the first kids to break in their new classrooms.
The shiny new schools are Arrowood Elementary on Pawnee Drive; Cox Elementary on Dayton Ave.; McKinley Elementary on Colorado Drive; Shawnee Elementary on Ankeney Mill Road and Tecumseh Elementary on Old Springfield Pike.
Spring Hill and Cox elementary schools are set to be torn down in mid-January.
The old Simon Kenton building was given to the City of Xenia, and the McKinley building will be converted into the new Central Office for the School Board.
Each new building costs approximately $12 million dollars.
