XENIA, Ohio (WDTN) - A Xenia man was given the maximum sentence possible for his involvement with a 12-year-old girl he met on Facebook.

David Hawkins, 22, was sentenced on June 13 to six years behind bars for sexual battery.  A judge ordered Hawkins serve each count, which carries a three year sentence, consecutively.

According to officials, Hawkins lured a 12-year-old girl he met online to the Knights Inn on Allison Avenue and assaulted her multiple times.

Hawkins was initially charged with six counts of rape; however, as part of a plea agreement, the rape charges were dropped in April and the 22-year-old pleaded guilty to sexual battery.

Upon release, Hawkins will be registered as a Tier 3 sex offender for life.
